Environments II by MiG-05 Environments II by MiG-05
The last two of these backgrounds for the [link] website.

Top: Deep coral reef
Bottom: Tasmanian forest

Yes yes, I know, there should be a somewhat denser vegetation in the Tasmanian piece but I wanted to let the air in a little bit.

Tech: Photoshop CS3, Intuos3

I have to admit, I'm blown away by the details. The floor of that forest must have killed you, it's like we can see every dead leaf and fallen branch! Most impressive. Beautiful work my friend.

Well I can't really take total credit for that forest floor since I used a 3ds Max texture for it but yes, I spent some time enhancing and adding quite a lot of details to it since it wasn't exactly as I wanted it from start. I had to make it blend with the trees in a convincing manner. Thanks Mafeo^^

Ahh, the power of the computer. Still, I'm sure it was hard to blend it all together and make it look this cool.

Yes, me and my damn details. Sometimes I wish I was one of them artsie- fartsie types who throws buckets of paint at something and call it art. Would be a considerably less effort and strain on the eyes/back/brain and also be a way faster method of getting it done. But alas no, I of course have to care about what I do and spend heinous amounts of energy getting it exactly as I want it, much to my own demise. But that's just me, why make it simple when you can make it complex. I'm moaning about it since I'm in the middle of a painting, acrylics on water color paper ( big one ) and I'm getting a little tired of it.

Oh and thanks Shar^^

I don't really care for Jackson Pollock type of Art. I appreciate the style... but I personally don't like it. I prefer realism. The Sistine Chapel is Amazing. I really like all of the Turtles ;) Thanks for the inspiration. All of that hard work isn't just helping you. It's helping us. Keep at it up man.

Me neither and I do not appreciate the style at all, in my book that's just lucky rubbish. Lucky if it comes out interesting, otherwise it's just a waste of time and materials in my opinion. Let alone waste of trees. Yep, there has to be some skill to it and the real skill comes with a touch of realism in there somewhere. There's a reason why the cubistic era of Picasso's artistic life isn't what made him the genius that he was. Anyone can do triangular noses and misplaced eyes, kids do that all the time. He was a genius because he actually could draw and paint real life images and extremely well at that at a very young age. This he later brought with him later on when he started dabbling around with new styles and that's the pinpoint of it. He was able to pull it off. But throwing paint on a canvas or a paper doesn't take much skills at all. In other words, fat chance of me ever taking to that mode of painting, ever^^

As for the inspiration thingy, happy to help out =) As always, I will keep on doing what I'm doing^^

About two consecutive days for both of them I think. I ran into some layer issues with the coral piece and had to restructure them a little and replace a few, hence the time taken for making it. Thanks mind you =)

Heh yeah, I get that all the time with these digital pieces. It's so easy to make it look like a photo since you have ultimate control over them. Not so with traditionally painted ones where you have to rely on your own resources and there's no ctrl+z^^ Thanks Rush =)
