Forest - Final by MiG-05 Forest - Final by MiG-05
I finally have this one done and over with. I've been postponing work on it far too long now so it's about damn time it's finished. The yellow tint is actually the paper color ( the WIP of this piece was desaturated ).

Acrylics/water color/coloring pencils

*stares*
....
I could dwell in this picture for hours and make it as a background for little stories of different creatures playing here....
All the details and the effects...breathtaking...
And really really enchanting...*stares more*

I see (haha and for me not enough work..or well, at least doesn't get enough money for that XD; )

Haha no wonder in my opinion. :D
However, you have a really impressive gallery overall so I could say the same about any other piece, :)

Well...
There are no words to express, what I feel by looking at this picture- full view of course!

But I will try because your picture enriches my day.

I've studied forest eco systems that's why I tend to enjoy pictures about trees more than others.
This picture though is different to me.
Better!
Indredible!

On the first view one could think, you have drawn a very old forest somewhere in untouched nature, where wolfs are howling and bears find their prey. The immens strength and might of those trees catches the eyes when it follows the light downwards into the valley between those impressive roots. They are the real strength of these trees, giving hold and taking nutratives from earth as well as ground water up to the leaves.
But looking closer, there is even more to see.
There is life: mature -in form of the strong old conifer in the centre of the picture - as well as young - e.g. the tiny seeming broad-leaved tree in the shade next to it. The life circle evolves again from the decaying trunk in form of grass, which grows in the new born light due to the missing crown.

Of course this picture wouldn't be that perfect, if you hadn't used so much differing textures. You managed to show, that the bark of each individual tree and each species is different. The light is so tender and encloses those tiny twigs so lightly, that I can imagine the warmth of it as if it would touch my skin.

Best of all - as intended, I guess - is the tiny creature (elf maybe) which enjoys the overwhelming grace of this moment.
The whole picture bursts into unbelievable dimension the moment the eye recognises it. The size of the seen customizes again and suddenly the full sense of inferiority catches you.
That's so great!

I don't want to compare you to other painters, but the feeling is quite familiar. There are some pictures of SAHM who tended to draw fantastic pictures of such emotional power. (I have a link to his pictures but I don't want to post it, 'cause this is your page and you're great!) I just mention it, because he is my favorite painter so far. By thinking on your troll and this picture ... well I rethink my opinion!

I did put some effort into it, yes^^ But as almost always is the case with these detailed pieces of mine I had to force myself to stop working on it in the end. I could easily continue adding quite a lot of details and more to it but if I don't put the foot down I'll never finish with any of them^^

I know what you mean about putting your foot down I also suffer from the overworking on a piece of art. But good job on this its really cool

I'm not sure about overworking it; that depends on your skill level. With the simplest foundation you can cram tons of details and textures in and still make it work as a whole if you know what you're doing =)
