... I've heard that most people never have more than one perfect moment in their lives and it's usually a rather short one apparently. But I've had plenty. Kinda odd I think. But I am at the moment having one as I type this =) We've just been to a party, not overly drunk and I'm sitting here at the kitchen table, sipping on a whisky and listening to the masterful Bladerunner soundtrack by Vangelis and I feel unbelievably good. Shamelessly good. There's nothing I want more in my life at this very moment than to just remain where I am right now, really enjoying this looong wonderful moment =) I feel so god damn awesomely good^^ I love life, there's nothing that beats life <3

I just had a cup of coffee in the kitchen window, enjoying the warmth of middle Spring. We have a few trees in the inner yard and while I was standing there, watching those trees I again was baffled by the beauty of the things in our world.

At the moment the sun is blazing from a clear blue sky outside, showering everything with a warm light, those trees included. As I took in the fine detail in the bark, the way the light makes the whole tree seem glowing and heaven-like I wondered how many of us actually do these things. Taking the time to really look at things, analyze them and truly enjoy the shape, color, detail and a million more things that can be found in any object.

Early last Fall we took a trip to the ocean with my sister and her family and a friend of hers. It was a pretty windy day and not as warm at that beach as it was back home. But we sat there for a while anyway, enjoying our picnic and each others company. There's a few gnarly pine trees growing at that beach, small and wonderfully twisting in low arcs over the cliffs. Complex shapes, amber and golden at the base of the trunks and black branches with dark green needles. Beautifully outlined against the faded blue sky and the lightly colored surrounding cliffs. My sister's friend asked me what I was looking so intensely at and I told her "I'm enjoying the beauty of these trees right here", whereupon she stated she didn't think them particularly beautiful and wondered what I saw in them. I told her how I see things around me, described the details I see, the textures, light, how the shadows fall and the fascinating shape of things. I told her that I always have seen things the way I do and she was completely mystified at first, because she had never heard anyone describe a bunch of trees the way I did. To her they're just trees.

Many times when I've told others of what I see I almost got the "Emo-stamp" in my forehead since it's apparently not "manly" to give a shit about things that touches ones emotions. But she actually thanked me for putting things into a new perspective. After having heard my statement she felt her own point of view changed and looked with new eyes on the trees and also thought them beautiful, something she otherwise probably wouldn't have had I not been there to point them out to her.

What I really don't understand is why so many often seem to not see things around them for what they are. There's a always a common trend or line of thought blocking reason and sensitivity like "I don't listen to Britney Spears, she's so fucking lame" because that is the general consensus or "that movie is so Hollywood, I'm only watching indy-movies because that makes me stand out more" or whatever. Regardless of the fact that no, Britney Spears might not be the first choice of music you would go for but yes, she has made a few good ones too. There's actually a few good Hollywood movies as well but we can't really admit these things because so many others says they're crap and we don't want to be thought of as lamers or whatever it may be ( these 2 points are just examples, not something I hold as fact even though I've heard both cases being regarded this way ). And in my own, personal experience, I've been in many situations where people think I'm an over sensitive lame-ass just because I see things the way I do because this is a way they themselves don't see them. To some people the cosy fire could just as well be a radiator, they both generate warmth and that's that. How boring it must be to see it that way, because after all, the world really is an incredibly beautiful place. If you take the time to stop for a while, let your senses take hold and do the work for a while and really look.

Edit: Oh and yes, I know I'm generalizing quite a bit here. I'm fully aware that beauty isn't lost on all people on the planet and that most probably feel more than they care to show =)
